On 31 October 2016, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) accepted Ratos AB´s acquisition of Plant Topco AS.
The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has concluded that the acquisition will not significantly impede effective competition in the Finnish market, or have a material negative impact on competition as, in practice, the deal will not change the current market situation.
Ratos is a Swedish private equity company that invests in Nordic companies.
Plant Topco is a Norwegian company operating in the plant and garden products market. It is owned by the Plantagen Group, which is known for its garden outlets. Plantagen has outlets in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The companies owned by Ratos do not operate in the plant and garden products retail market, nor are there any overlaps in the operations of the parties to the acquisition in this respect.
The decision issued by the FCCA will be published later.
