On 16 June 2016, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) approved a corporate transaction involving the acquisition of Veine Oy by Posti Oy.
The FCCA has concluded that since there is very little overlap in the business operations of Posti and Veine, the acquisition will not significantly impede effective competition in the Finnish market or a substantial part of the market.
In addition to postal services, Posti offers parcel and logistics services and some food transport services. Veine is a logistics company offering a variety of transport and warehousing services. Veine specialises in transporting foods that require an unbroken cold chain, and all of the company’s warehouses are temperature-regulated. Posti has no temperature-regulated transport equipment or storage facilities.
The FCCA’s decision includes business secrets of the parties involved. The decision can only be published once all confidential information has been removed, which will take approximately two weeks.
