The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) approved on 27 May 2016 a transaction in which YIT Rakennus Oy and Keskinäinen Eläkevakuutusyhtiö Etera will establish a joint venture for the implementation of Tripla Mall shopping centre.
The FCCA studied the effects of the transaction in terms of real estate investment and construction markets. The parties only have temporary overlapping business operations in the real estate investment market, because YIT only own real estate while building them. In addition to this, there are many other institutional investors operating in the market. And likewise, there are many other major competitors in the construction market. The FCCA does not think this transaction will significantly impede effective competition or have any horizontal or vertical competitive effects.
The FCCA’s decision includes business secrets of the parties involved. The decision can only be published once all confidential information has been removed, which will take approximately two weeks.
