Instructions for insolvent TravelBird’s customers

Dutch company TravelBird BV has announced that it is insolvent. It has sold trips also to Finnish customers. The company has a guarantee fund for insolvency from the Dutch guarantee fund SGR. SRG will pay compensation to those whose trip is not arranged as planned and it has published instructions for consumers. SGR will also contact those consumers whose trip will not be arranged. The situation is being monitored by the European Consumer Centre Finland and the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority’s Travel package guarantees monitoring unit.

You are taking part in a trip purchased from TravelBird and you encounter problems with a service provider:

TUI Netherlands will take care of everything on behalf of travellers; do not pay for the hotel, for example, if you are asked to do so. If necessary, a traveller or a travel service provider can contact TUI, tel. +31 88-0885840 and travelbird@tui.nl.

You are about to set off on a trip you have purchased from TravelBird and you have valid flight tickets:

A Dutch guarantee fund (SGR) ensures that such trips are arranged of which the departure date is 9 November2018 at the latest. Such trips will be arranged as originally planned. You will receive an email from SGR to the email address you have provided to TravelBird. For such trips, SGR guarantees payments to service providers according to prices agreed with TravelBird.

If your departure date is after 9 November 2018: more information will be provided later. You will receive an email from SGR to the email address you have provided to TravelBird.

You are about to set off on a trip you have purchased from TravelBird but you do not yet have valid flight tickets:

Your trip will not be arranged. You will receive instructions to the email address you have provided to TravelBird on how to submit an application for compensation to SGR.

You have booked a trip from TravelBird that does not contain flight tickets.

You have a gift certificate or a voucher for TravelBird but you have not yet booked a trip with it.
